The students will write and perform raps about characters such as the Cyclops, building masks of him and negotiating their way out of his cave.
Opportunities will be given to draw and write about scenes from the story from their own perspective. The workshops throughout will be designed to support the key areas of imaginative development and literacy skills in support of creative communication.
Contender Charlie will share years of experience working with theatre and mythology to work alongside classroom teachers in developing the course into lesson plans beyond each session, following up on the ideas inspired by each intervention. In this way all relevant staff are given a key role in the creative process throughout. The clear aim is to provide an experience the children can remember for years to come and that can change their perspective forever on the power of story and the spoken word.
